Field Notes...

Been sick as shit the past 3 days...fever, shivering, cough, clogged, SUCK. Sleep, work, and everything is stacking up...I want to race this weekend...not so sure.

This is a piece I wrote from the class this past weekend...It's about a climb in NH, but seems like it fits with cycling too?

The Roof-

Pawtuckaway, China Pond, mosquitoes, black flies, calm…
Time stands still here and all that remains is focus.
Breath in slow motion, crouch and be still like a sniper,
eyes lazers.
The moment won’t last, it can’t.
Arms burn here, legs begin to tremble.
Sweat will blur your eyes soon enough.
In this moment you need faith, need to believe, that when you jump
It will be there.
And if you don’t see it,
if you don’t leap blindly at the abyss with utter conviction,
it just won’t work.
The moment is precise, a punctuation.
Chalk hangs in the air.
Once it happens everything else falls into place, a puzzle solved.
Your jaw will relax, easy breath will come creeping in.
Suddenly you become aware of your surroundings.
You let your body go limp as it is lowered to the ground.
