This blog is harder than I thought. Even with a week off for thanksgiving.
Well, here's how it went down. It was good to be back in Portland, riding up Saltzman in the rain, it was actually great. We headed over Sat for some food and racing on Sun, but had the whole week off, so hung out in P town for a few days before making our way back through Eugene to Bend. It was good to catch up with friends, get a stumptown fix, relax, ride. It was awful gray through...I don't miss the rain and fog after a few days of it.
Kreugers was fun, it was really hard to gauge how I did because it wasn't the usual crowds of the A race, regardless, I felt like I hung on. I was on my own a lot and definitely slowed down. Some of the fast Masters A's caught up to me at one pt and I was able to really pick up my pace with some wheels to follow...Not enough for Sager not to catch me, I was literally ten seconds from staying on the lead lap, but so it goes. It was a beautiful day (amazing pics over at pdxcross )and great to be out. Followed it up with a mandatory stop at taqueria santa cruz...dare I say the best burrito in Portland, actually the best burrito ever in my book, try it out, but keep it hush hush.
Back to Bend, back to the sunnyside, lots of riding and eating that was what has been up. Good food and good company. Had a team dinner on Sat, it was great to talk bikes and eat good food with good people. Looking forward to riding and racing with even more of the sunnyside folks. How lucky I was to find such a great group of people. We've been doing a semi regular Wed skills session, it just reminds me of how fun riding bikes with friends is. I do a lot of long or hard solo efforts, but I always look forward to riding around with friends.
The trails are in such epic condition, rode around the singletrack on the cross bike and had a hard time pointing it home. I ran into half the people I know and half the sunnyside team out at Phils on Sun.
USGP's this weekend, sooo psyched.
No pics, I'll dig up one of me hopping the pumpkin pile.
Here's what's been in rotation, a little heavy on the hip hop right now:
-Girl talk (so good for training)
-Santogold
-New Kanye
-Talib
-Spoon
-Bon Iver...some amazing podcasts of live shows on NPR, super chill. If you haven't listend or heard of Bon Iver...DO IT.
